Letters plus combining marks — a one-way export for reading. Chhand, meend and ghaseet are dropped, and a continuation-only beat exports as nothing, so notation cannot be rebuilt from this text (what is lost). Whether the marks are drawn depends on the destination font (Swarlipi fonts).

Five scripts, one input

The same ASCII string renders as ਸ ਰੇ ਗ, स रे ग, স রে গ, સ રે ગ or S R G. Switch script without touching the data.

Compatible with the Omenad keymap

The input grammar is the character mapping of the Omenad Bhatkhande fonts. Notation typed for those fonts renders unchanged.

Letters are real Unicode. Selection, search, copy and screen readers just work, and a plain-text export carries the marks as combining characters.

Built for editors and print

Zero runtime dependencies, an HTML string out, em-based sizing, currentColor marks, and a source range on every piece for a drawn caret.

Fonts included, for everywhere else

Copied notation is plain Unicode, so its marks need a font that carries them. Four variable fonts ship with the package — install one and the text reads in Word, Pages or a PDF.
